The largest port in Scandinavia is seeking to enhance customer benefit through digitalised freight tracking. The Port Optimizer™ Track & Trace app is being launched by the Port Authority of Gothenburg to make it easier for freight owners and rail and terminal operators to track their freight in real time from quayside to inland destination.
During 2014 the Port of Gothenburg reported a rise in car exports and a fall in oil volumes. This can be seen in the Port of Gothenburg volume report which is released today.
The Port of Gothenburg six-monthly report published today shows that European freight volumes strengthened during the first half of the year whilst global container trade fell.
The number of export containers passing through the Port of Gothenburg increased by four per cent through to the end of June. At the same time, imports fell by one per cent. Overall, container trade improved by two per cent during the first six months of this year.
Despite the downturn in the world economy, strong export trade, particularly to other continents, helped lift freight volumes at the Port of Gothenburg in 2012. This can be seen in a presentation of port volumes for the year presented today.
Despite turmoil in the world economy, container trade at the Port of Gothenburg was up four per cent during the third quarter. Rail transport and oil are increasing whilst ro-ro traffic and cars continue to fall.
