Press release -
Gothenburg region named the best logistics location in the Nordic countries
The Gothenburg region has been named the best logistics location in the Nordic countries by Swedish industry magazine Dagens Logistik. In the justification, the Port of Gothenburg is highlighted as pivotal for the region’s strong position as a logistics hub and its continued potential for further growth.
"We are glad to be named not only Sweden’s but now also the Nordic region’s best logistics location. Over the past year, we have, together with other logistics actors in the region, worked intensively to create even better conditions for an innovative and growing freight hub that strengthens the region’s international competitiveness," says Jacob Minnhagen, Senior Market Development Manager at the Port of Gothenburg.
"We continue to develop the port and the surrounding areas, building additional logistics properties to complement those that have already been added in recent years. For example, the construction of OneMed’s new central warehouse of 45,000 square meters is well underway in collaboration with Castellum," he continues.
Dagens Logistik has assessed the Gothenburg region based on factors such as infrastructure, access to labor, and sustainability in the logistics sector. The Gothenburg region is also highlighted as a national center for research and development in sustainable logistics solutions, which strengthens the region’s long-term competitiveness, with the port’s vital role particularly emphasized.
According to Dagens Logistik, the strengths of the Gothenburg region primarily lie in its well-developed infrastructure, with the Port of Gothenburg as the hub. The region also has extensive road, rail, and air infrastructure, including Landvetter Airport, which creates a logistics region with all possibilities and preconditions.
"Our region is characterized by close collaboration between many stakeholders. We have long worked together with Swedavia Landvetter Airport and Business Region Gothenburg. In recent years, we have also expanded our cooperation with Borås City and Business Region Borås to strengthen collaboration in the larger region. Together, we are working to become even more attractive for business establishments. Here, there is skilled labor, a well-developed infrastructure, and available land ready for development both now and in the future," concludes Jacob Minnhagen.
The list of the best logistics locations has existed for 25 years. This year, Dagens Logistik expanded the list from the best logistics locations in Sweden to include the Nordic countries. The Öresund region and the Mälardalen region are ranked second and third, respectively, on the magazine’s list.
