Port of Gothenburg Q1 fright volumes report: Increased throughput despite import drop

During 2022, the volume of goods at the Port of Gothenburg increased, despite the global transport system's strained situation. The port also managed to gain market shares both in Sweden and Europe. As the first quarter of 2023 is summarized at the Port of Gothenburg, it is noted that the port continues to grow in several segments, while some slowdown is observed in others.

Accelerated increase in container volumes at the Port of Gothenburg

The situation continues to be strained in the global transport system. Consequential effects of closures, congestion and the issue of bottlenecks all represent continued problems in the logistics chain. Freight volumes at the Port of Gothenburg are, however, continuing to increase in all segments except one – this is evident in the port’s volume summary of the third quarter of the year.
