New shipping alliance Gemini makes maiden call at the Port of Gothenburg

When the vessel Charm C called at the Port of Gothenburg at 10 p.m. on March 31, it marked the start of a new container service between the Port of Gothenburg, Asia, and North America, focusing on increased punctuality and efficiency. The new service is part of the shipping companies Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd's new global liner network called Gemini.

Gothenburg region named the best logistics location in the Nordic countries

The Gothenburg region has been named the best logistics location in the Nordic countries by Swedish industry magazine Dagens Logistik. In the justification, the Port of Gothenburg is highlighted as pivotal for the region’s strong position as a logistics hub and its continued potential for further growth.

Significant increase in imports through the Port of Gothenburg

2024 was a year with both ups and downs in cargo volumes for Scandinavia’s largest port. On the container side, the Port of Gothenburg reports another very strong year with high volumes and efficiency figures. While other segments showed mixed figures, the grand total for all segments was an 8% increase in tonnes.

Lövholmen Intermodal Terminal in Piteå aims to strengthen the entire region's competitiveness

The new Lövholmen Intermodal Terminal in Piteå recently celebrated one year of operation. With its strategic location next to the E4 highway and major industries in the area, combined with growing capacity and departure frequency to and from The port of Gothenburg, the terminal aims to become a northern transport hub open to the entire region’s business community.

Work started on 45,000 sqm logistics property at the Port of Gothenburg

On Monday, the first shovel was turned for a new 45,000 sqm logistics building at Halvorsäng, just a stone's throw from the Port of Gothenburg. The port and Castellum have now begun work on building a fully leased, efficient, and sustainable logistics facility through a joint venture. The tenant is the medical technology company OneMed, which plans to move in during 2026.

Northern European ports in collaboration receive EU Funding for onshore power for container ships

Four Northern European ports are set to significantly reduce emissions from container ships moored at their quays. With a joint support of €18,8 million from the EU fund “Connecting Europe Facility” for the project “EU.OPS.Network”, the ports of Aarhus, Gothenburg, Bremerhaven, and Stockholm are set to provide Onshore Power Supply (OPS) to container ships calling at the ports by 2030.
