  • Gothenburg cruise season under way

    ​The first cruise ship of the year will arrive at the Port of Gothenburg today, marking the start of the 2015 cruise season. A total of 52 ships carrying 100,000 passengers are due to visit Gothenburg in 2015.

  • New service between Gothenburg and Morocco

    ​Swedish exports to Morocco are on the increase. The shipping company Seago Line is about to establish a new service to Casablanca and Agadir in Morocco. Swedish forest products and engineering products are just two examples of the freight that will be transported using this new service.

  • Gothenburg best logistics location in Sweden

    ​For the 14th year in succession, Gothenburg has been named the best logistics location in Sweden by the industry journal Intelligent Logistik. The deciding factors are that it has the largest port in the Nordic Region for both imports and exports, direct deep-sea services and the short distance from the import harbour to the warehouse.

  • Rise in car exports though the Port of Gothenburg

    During 2014 the Port of Gothenburg reported a rise in car exports and a fall in oil volumes. This can be seen in the Port of Gothenburg volume report which is released today.

  • ​New forest terminal at the Port of Gothenburg

    More sawmills throughout the Nordic region can now ship their timber via the Port of Gothenburg. A new transloading terminal for timber products has opened at the port. The terminal will be run by the family-owned company Sören Thyr AB.

    Swedish import and export companies can look forward to a new freight service to the United Kingdom and Spain. The German shipping company OPDR, in collaboration with X-Press Feeders, has established a new route from the Port of Gothenburg.

  • Record number of visits by cruise ships to Gothenburg

    Cruise tourism set a new record in Gothenburg this year. From April to October, 73 cruise ships visited Gothenburg, carrying 110,000 visitors. In total, cruise tourism generated around SEK 60 million in pure tourist revenue for the city.

    The Port of Gothenburg is an ideal location to meet the logistics requirements of major import customers. That was the reason why interior design and furniture company Chilli AB has decided to move into the DB Schenker Logistics warehouse at Arendal.

    On October 4, the world's largest sailing race – Volvo Ocean Race – will get under way. After nine months at sea, the seven teams will finally cross the finishing line in Gothenburg in June 2015. The Port of Gothenburg is the official homecoming partner for the race.

  • Substantial discount for LNG-powered ships in the Port of Gothenburg

    Ships powered by liquefied natural gas, LNG, can expect a substantial reduction in the port tariff when they call at the Port of Gothenburg. The discount will come into effect in 2015 and will continue for four years. The aim is to induce more shipping companies to switch to cleaner fuel.

  • Environmental permit granted for LNG terminal in Gothenburg

    The County Administrative Board in Västra Götaland has granted Swedegas and Vopak LNG Holding a permit under the Environmental Code for an LNG – liquefied natural gas – terminal at the Energy Port in Gothenburg. The terminal will be capable of supplying shipping, industry and heavy transport with gas as fuel as they make the switch from oil.

  • Preem makes major investment in green diesel at the Port of Gothenburg

    Preem has decided to invest approximately 33,6 million euro to redevelop its refinery at the Port of Gothenburg. The investment will result in a doubling of production of diesel with renewable content – a fuel that is expected to replace fossil-based motor fuels more and more.

  • Campaign saved 120 tonnes of sulphur emissions

    The Port of Gothenburg's campaign for a cleaner shipping industry is continuing to bear fruit. During 2013, 49 vessels took part in the programme. In total, they saved 120 tonnes of sulphur emissions.

  • New import warehouse at the port

    The 24,000 m2 warehousing and distribution centre at Arendal, located directly beside the port, is now complete. Owned by the Port of Gothenburg, the warehouse has been leased to Schenker Logistics and will handle mainly imported goods scheduled for onward distribution to end-consumers throughout Sweden.

  • British cruise passengers heading for Gothenburg in December

    Saga Sapphire, which berthed in the Port of Gothenburg this morning, is the first of three British cruise ships that will be calling at the Cruise Terminal in Gothenburg in December – Saga Sapphire, Aurora (December 15) and Queen Elisabeth (December 19) will ensure that 5,000 British tourists will have the opportunity to experience the Christmas atmosphere that is unique to Gothenburg.

  • EU ger stöd till Rotterdams och Göteborgs LNG-samarbete

    EU beviljar 34 miljoner euro (305 miljoner kronor) för utvecklingen av ett gemensamt projekt mellan Rotterdam och Göteborg i syfte att tillhandahålla Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) för renare transporter till havs.
