  • New record and stabilised volumes at the Port of Gothenburg

    Freight volumes transported by rail to and from the Port of Gothenburg have continued to increase and in September a new all-time high was noted. Other categories report lower yet slightly stabilised volumes compared with the previous year.

  • Go-ahead for underground crude oil storage

    The Port of Gothenburg is set to begin construction of a facility for crude oil storage in one of the underground caverns at the port, with completion within 24 months. It is estimated that the investment will increase current crude oil volumes by up to 60 per cent.

  • Renewed rail shuttle service between Gothenburg and Drammen

    The Port of Gothenburg is expanding its range of rail shuttles by once again offering a shuttle service to Drammen in Norway. The first departure will be at the beginning of November and is part of a joint venture with Green Cargo and H. Strøm/Rail Terminal Drammen.

    The Port of Gothenburg, the largest port in the Nordic region, is a reflection of Swedish industry. Whilst the first half of 2008 showed an increase for a number of goods categories, volumes fell during the second half of the year. Despite the downturn, new volume records were set for containers, oil and rail.
