The Port of Gothenburg is set to begin construction of a facility for crude oil storage in one of the underground caverns at the port, with completion within 24 months. It is estimated that the investment will increase current crude oil volumes by up to 60 per cent.
The Board of the Port of Gothenburg decided today to submit a proposal for a new operating structure to the owner, the City of Gothenburg. The proposal will be submitted to the City Council for a final decision.
The Port of Gothenburg is expanding its range of rail shuttles by once again offering a shuttle service to Drammen in Norway. The first departure will be at the beginning of November and is part of a joint venture with Green Cargo and H. Strøm/Rail Terminal Drammen.

Whilst the first half of 2008 showed an increase for a number of goods categories, volumes fell during the second half of the year. Despite the downturn, new volume records were set for containers, oil and rail.
